Union home minister Amit Shah on Sunday chaired an emergency meeting with senior security establishment officials to review the deteriorating situation in Manipur, officials aware of the matter said and added that a more detailed review was scheduled for Monday.

A curfew was imposed in Imphal West and East after six people from Meitei groups, who were allegedly kidnapped by militants, were found dead. Internet was suspended in several districts as mobs attacked the homes of MLAs also indulged in vandalism.

Shah was supposed to attend a few election rallies as part of the BJP's campaign in Maharashtra but he has cancelled them and is returning to the national capital, the sources said.
