Recap: Geekie’s mystery goal gives B’s 4-3 win over Montreal
A good, old fashioned, weird goal.
Morgan Geekie scored two of three Boston Bruins power-play goals in a 4-3 comeback win against the Montreal Canadiens at TD Garden in Boston on Saturday. Charlie McAvoy had three assists, Fraser Minten had a goal and an assist, and Jeremy Swayman made 22 saves for Boston (30-20-2), which has won consecutive games, and eight of nine.
Boston Bruins star forward Morgan Geekie left the team's Jan. 10 contest against the New York Rangers early due to a family matter. He also did not play during the team's following game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Jan. 11. Now, Geekie has shared the reason for his absence, and it is certainly very good news for No. 39 and his family.
Charlie McAvoy pushed the puck over to Geekie by the left point, where he ripped it home for the final 4-3 scoreline at 14:07, and his 28th tally of the year, which is a team-high. It also marked Geekie’s 100th career goal and gave him the lead for most PPG on the Bruins with 10.
