While addressing the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, on Monday, Trump spent most of his time reading prepared remarks praising Netanyahu for his role in finally ending the two-year conflict in Gaza, declaring the agreement a “historic dawn of a new Middle East.”
Trump lauded both Netanyahu and himself for the breakthrough, describing the deal as one that “effectively ends the war and opens the door to durable peace” in West Asia.
Amid talks of normalization, Trump paid special attention to the elephant in the room by urging the Knesset to use their momentum to “make a deal” with Iran, which both the United States and Israel had bombed at various times during the Israel-Gaza war.
The White House sees Israel's leader losing his grip. But the president has been reluctant to apply real pressure.
