In a recent trade idea from The Athletic’s Fred Katz, there would be plenty of intrigue between the Mavericks and the Los Angeles Lakers once again. His trade idea would involve moving LeBron James to the Mavericks in exchange for Klay Thompson, Daniel Gafford, and P.J. Washington.

Kyrie Irving has previously pushed the idea in private that the Dallas Mavericks should trade LeBron James from the LA Lakers in the off-season. James has recently signed a two-year extension with the Lakers worth $104m but a switch to the Golden State Warriors to link up with Steph Curry has also been mooted.

The Mavericks are running it back with head coach Jason Kidd despite persistent rumors that the New York Knicks were interested in hiring him. Those whispers have been put to rest after the Knicks brought on veteran coach Mike Brown to lead the franchise.
