Cricket great Virat Kohli became the fastest batter and third man to reach 14,000 runs in one-day international cricket before going on to hit a record-extending 51st century in the ODI format.

Virat Kohli has become the third batsman to reach the 14,000-run mark in ODI cricket, after Sachin Tendulkar (18,426) and Kumar Sangakkara (14,234). He also became the quickest to achieve the milestone as he reached the figure in 287 innings, which is 63 lesser than Sachin Tendulkar (350 innings) and 91 lesser than Kumar Sangakkara (378 innings).

Former India captain Virat Kohli was also the fastest to 13,000 ODI runs, which he had completed in September 2023 against Pakistan in Colombo during the Asia Cup

Kohli, who made his debut for India back in 2008 against Sri Lanka, becomes only the third batter in ODI history to do so after greats of the game Sachin Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara. The veteran batter crossed the milestone in his 298th ODI for India, and has 50 hundreds in the format to go with 73 half-centuries.
