This new album, which is a mix of R&B, pop, and experimental production that leans into Bieber’s signature vocal style, has been described by some as his most personal to date. While Bieber has released collaborative singles over the past few years, Swag marks his first full-length solo project since 2021’s Justice.

When director James Gunn, steward of the high-flying new Superman reboot, was recently asked to list his favourite comic book movies, he singled out Richard Donner’s beautifully brash 1978 take on the Man of Steel – the film generally credited with firing the starter pistol for the modern cinematic superhero era.

SWAG also garnered Bieber his highest streaming week ever for an album after earning 163,000 equivalent album units in its first week, with streaming accounting for 155,000 of those units. The album also debuted at No. 2 on both the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and the Billboard 200 charts.
