Australian senators have voted to censure an Indigenous colleague who yelled at King Charles III during a reception in Parliament House last month.

Australia's Senate on Monday censured an Indigenous woman parliamentarian over her protest against King Charles during his visit to the parliament last month when she accused the British monarch of genocide.

The censure motion against Ralph Babet has also passed in the Senate. It passed “on the voices”, without a formal vote being called for. As mentioned earlier, opposition Senate leader Simon Birmingham called Babet’s tweets “repugnant”,

The Senate has censured two of its own, Lidia Thorpe and Ralph Babet, both of whom were absent when the votes were taken because of problems with their flights to Canberra.

Indigenous senator Lidia Thorpe has been censured over her confrontation of King Charles, and Clive Palmer-backed senator Ralph Babet is censured over offensive comments he made online following the election of Donald Trump.
