A rare short-beaked echidna puggle has emerged at Taronga Zoo Sydney. The puggle is estimated to be about seven months old and was born to experience mum Ganyi. An echidna baby, known as a puggle, was born for the first time at Australian Reptile Park on the New South Wales Central Coast. Echidnas are one of only two egg-laying mammals in the world, alongside the platypus. They are known to be difficult to breed in captivity.
